Sabudana Khichdi(V)(GF) : Tapioca pearls cooked and tossed with roasted peanuts. This dish comes from north Karnataka. It’s a staple on certain days where people don’t eat grains as a part of their rituals. I just love it, for breakfast, as a snack, as a part of a meal. 

• Eat it by itself or with a side of chutney.

Vegetable Sagu(V)(GF): Mixed vegetables simmered in a coconut and tomato with spices. Has a tiny bit of heat.
-Eaten with rice or by itself

 

Pulippu Keerai(V)(GF): Spinach, Amaranth leaves and fenugreek leaves simmered with Pigeon peas, red lentils, tomatoes and spices. A huge hit in my family 

• Eaten with white rice or great as a soup

 

Urulaikizhangu vadakkal(V)(GF) : A staple potato dish. The South Indian version of homefries! It has a bite to it along with spices.
-Eaten with white rice or by itself

 

Peanut and coconut chutney(V)(GF):  Peanuts and coconut with a hint of mint and cilantro. yum
-Goes great with the tapioca khichdi
